Symbols and ideas
This story is filled with many different ideas and symbols that can be observed at different perspectives. However the main idea of the story is what the world would be with a oppressive society and anything that is unnatural and superstitious is to be censored and oppressed. That if someones work is oppressed his ideas and thoughts are as well, a man is nothing without his thought, ideas and perspectives, opinions, and just like in the story, they disappear.
The authors who works have been censored are now in shock, they needed to leave and escape to save their creations. They would have rather go to Mars to escape than to live in a oppressed twisted world. It shows there devotion to there work and writing. When the man came to claim Mars, the writer took there final stand against them, going out in the fight, trying to defend for the last time there ideas and opinions.
Ray Bradbury wants to explain what he think will happen when something like this will occur, the censorship and oppression of certain thoughts and opinions that are not "suitable" to society would be the end of creative imaginative writing and literacy. It will be the end of a open mind, open thoughts and new ideas. Society will become a strict constraint on imagination and creativity for mankind.
